HEDP (Hydroxyethylidene Diphosphonic Acid) is an organic phosphonic acid compound with the chemical formula C₂H₈O₇P₂ and molecular weight of 206.03. It is a highly efficient scale and corrosion inhibitor, which is able to form stable complexes with calcium, magnesium and other metal ions in water, thus effectively preventing the formation of scale.
HEDP has good chemical stability. HEDP has good chemical stability, in high temperature (up to 250 ℃) and high pH value conditions can still maintain stability, not easy to hydrolyze.
HEDP is widely used in scale and corrosion inhibition treatment in industrial circulating cooling water system, oil field water injection system, low pressure boiler, etc.
It is also used as peroxide stabilizer and color fixer in textile printing and dyeing industry, and as chelating agent in non-cyanide plating.The recommended dosage of HEDP is 1-10 mg/L (as scale inhibitor) or 10-50 mg/L (as corrosion inhibitor). Its solid form is crystalline powder, which is suitable for use in winter and cold regions.
